Picnic by the Campfire 2015: Say Farewell to Summer in Wissahickon Valley Park

Join us for a relaxing family afternoon in the Wissahickon Valley Park on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1 - 6 pm. In the marvelous scenery of this beautiful municipal park, we’ll set up a campfire and have a picnic with grilling to say farewell to summer.

We meet at the “Tree House”, also called the Wissahickon Environmental Center, aka Andorra Environmental Center (300 NW Ave, Phila., PA 19118).

If you’re coming in a car, pass the Parking Lot #3 and at the intersection with Andorra Rd, go into the park making slight left turn. Park at the Parking Lot #2.

The last several years were a great success. This year's mid October promises some moderate weather, however be sure to bring some warm clothes and blankets, just in case.

There will be sausages for the grill as well as bread and buns provided by the Philadelphia Czech and Slovak Heritage Association. You are asked to please bring some salads and/or side dishes.

If you or someone you know play a guitar, bring it with you for some traditional campfire singing. If you want, bring you bicycle or go for a brief hike, then join us as we grill sausages at the huge stone ring, sing by the campfire, and play ball games.

Pets are welcome. We'll ask for a small donation to offset the park rental fee. We know we can count on you.
