Maypole BuildingThe VodaFest Czech & Slovak Association in cooperation with the community associations and members would like to invite you for a Maypole Celebration and Spring Traditions 2015 at Sumava Peksa Park.

Please book Saturday 2nd May in your calendars and come & join us for a day filled with traditions, great food and even greater company! :-)

Start at approximately 10.30am (kids workshops) and finish late (depending on weather). Camp fire starting at about 4.30pm.

Lunch Menu:
Vegetable soup
Beef goulash with dumplings
A slice of homemade cake/dessert
Price: $20 p/p

Dinner: sausages for camp fire ($3)

Dear VodaFest friends,

We hope you had a lovely Easter break and are looking forward to the next VodaFest event, which celebrates the end of cold Winter and beginning of the Spring in the Northern Hemisphere - The Maypole Building & Spring Traditions, held on

Saturday 2 May 2015 at 46 Locks Way, Belgrave South.

For the 3rd time Sumava Peksa Park will open its gates for the big and small in order to learn about the pagan tradition of our ancestors still followed in various regions of both Czech Republic and Slovakia. Maypole building (raising) and Morena Witch burning will be accompanied by dancing, singing and a number of workshops for the children.

A full day of fun and delicious cuisine will be had so join in together with you family and friends!

Maypole Building & Spring Traditions 2015

Arrive early so you don't miss out on all the dance, music and craft workshops prepared by the Czech School of Melbourne (Ceska skola Melbourne), Slovak Little School (Detska Beseda), Maja Garland, Ivana Jancar and other talented members of our community.

Maypole 2015 Program:

10.30am The Maypole Event commences

**Dance workshop
**Spring songs workshop
**Mothers Day craft workshop

11.30am Preparations for Children's Maypole building

12.00pm Children's Maypole building, traditional songs & dances (choreography by Slovak school)

12.30pm Lunch (served in the Main Hall)

1.45pm Morena Witch and spring traditions workshop

2.30pm Adults' Maypole building

3.30pm Morena Witch burning, followed by campfire (weather permitting)

6pm The Maypole Event concludes

No VodaFest Event would be complete without fine Czech and Slovak cuisine. A three course menu will be served in the middle of the day and will include a soup, main and dessert. Soft drinks, tea & coffee as well as additional sweets will be available for purchase throughout the day. Later in the afternoon 'klobasy' (sausages) will be offered for BBQ.

Lunch $20 per person

**Homemade Dessert

Beverages and sweets $3 each
**Soft drinks, coffee and tea
**Chodsky kolac
**Gingerbreads

BBQ $3 each
Kransky w/bread, mustard or sauce for campfire

Please note, for those who wish to stay overnight camping is available with departure on Sunday no later than 11am. BYO tents and breakfast.

The event will run regardless of the weather. As the days are getting colder, we encourage you to rug up. You can always take some layers off :-)
