Event name: Czech/Slovak Egg Coloring
Location: Sokol New York, 420 East 71st Street, New York, NY, 10021
Learn this old world art form from renowned folk artist, Marj Nejdl, of the Czech & Slovak National Museum in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Learn how to make an original Czech/Slovak Easter Egg or “kraslice” by using the batik method or wax resist. The batik method starts with drawing the design with melted beeswax.
The dye is then applied in different stages during the decorating process while applying wax to the egg.
Participants take home their decorated eggs!
