As some of you might already know, Vodafest Festival is taking a break this year. However, we have prepared another interesting event that will bring together the Czech & Slovak community in Melbourne - a traditional folkloric fair (jarmok / jarmark) at Sumava on Saturday 12 November 2016.

If you would like to have a stall at the fair and sell or present your products (must be related to Czech & Slovak culture or created by Czech/Slovak) or would like to be involved in any other way, we want to hear from you! Email us at info@vodafest.org

Dear VodaFest friends,

Winter is here, which means summer is in full swing in the Northern Hemisphere!

Many of you may be travelling to Czech Republic or Slovakia to enjoy first hand the beautiful sights, natural wonders, culinary spoils and traditions that are well and truly alive. Lucky you!

Those of you who are staying put this winter can enjoy these images from some of the folkloric events taking place in various regions throughout the countries.

You may have heard that VodaFest - Czech and Slovak Association Inc. is creating a brand new event this year called JARMARK/JARMOK, distinct from VodaFest Czech and Slovak Festival, running around the same time but in alternate years.

The word JARMARK (in Czech) or JARMOK (in Slovak) is a traditional yearly market that remains alive or has been revived in many regions of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The market would typically bring to town merchants, craftsmen, trades and street performers to show and sell their special goods, produce, art and craft. The festive occasion was something to look forward to.

VodaFest JARMARK/JARMOK 2016 aims to follow up on this tradition and give the Czech and Slovak community an opportunity to buy & sell their own products and produce or to offer authentic Czech and Slovak goods.
